Dental Bridge For Patients In Bartow, Mulberry, Winter Haven, Lakeland, Lake Wales & Nearby Areas By Dr Billy Brown

dental bridgeDental bridge is used to bridge a gap that has been created by a missing tooth, or teeth. A dental bridge involves two crowns for your teeth on each side of your gap, these teeth are the anchors and are commonly referred to as the abutment teeth. There is a fabricated tooth, or fabricated teeth between these anchors. These fabricated teeth are referred to as pontics. The pontics may be created from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these. Dental bridges receive their support from either implants or your natural teeth.

Dentures and dental bridges are not the same thing. Dentures are utilized when there are numerous teeth missing. There are partial dentures and complete dentures. Dentures are removable, whereas dental bridges are not.

Restoring your beautiful smile. The benefits of a dental bridge include:

  • Restoring your ability to chew and speak correctly.
  • Maintaining your face’s shape.
  • Distributing your bite properly by replacing your missing teeth.
  • Preventing your other teeth from moving.

The Three Most Commonly Used Bridges are a traditional dental bridge, Maryland bonded bridge, and a Cantileber bridge. A traditional dental bridge involves the creation of a false tooth/crown for the tooth or implant on each side of the absent tooth with the pontic in between. A traditional bridge is the most common kind of bridge and they are made from either porcelain or ceramics that is bonded to metal. A Maryland bonded bridge, which is also called a Maryland bridge or a resin-bonded bridge is constructed of plastic gums and teeth that are supported by a framework made of metal. There are metal wings on both sides of the bridge. These wings are glued to your existing teeth. A Cantilever bridge is used if there are teeth to bond to on just one side of your missing tooth or teeth.
